The negative means downward.
Write down this equation
a)
d=(1/2)at^2
11.8=(1/2)(9.8)t^2
2.4=t^2
1.55s=t
b)
d=(1/2)at^2
d=(1/2)(9.8)(2*1.55)^2
d=47.1m
